Family sessions: Denver Botanic Gardens

One of my all-time favorite outdoor locations to photograph full length sessions is the Denver Botanic Gardens! I love walking around with my clients and discovering new hidden places, the textures, colors and light all work together to create a magical and diverse backdrop...

In the garden my first stop is always the benches at the southeast end of the gardens. It's usually in shade in the morning (which is my favorite time to shoot in the gardens) and it's the perfect spot to get the entire family together and to warm up for the rest of the session.

We usually meander through the Herb and Scripture gardens which offer wonderful hidden walkways and a beautiful over grown, lush backdrop.

Then it's over to June's Plant Asia - filled with lots of interesting textures (like the pebbled walkways) and quaint creek that is always a big hit with the kids.

After that I like to circle around the south end of the garden that has benches, fallen logs and lots of shade - it's perfect for when the sun is getting too intense. Then it's on to the Japanese Garden and past the tea house.

Laura smith porter plains garden with it’s wooden bridge is usual the last stop for our session - if you’re session is in the fall, the trees by this bridge will be a beautiful golden yellow.

This location does require a $100 permit fee which I will apply for on your behalf. If you are interested in booking a session with the Denver Botanic Gardens as your location, let’s connect!
